Scottish Industrial Symbiosis Programme (SISP)

We were asked by the Scottish Executive, Scottish Environment Protection Agency and Scottish Enterprise to manage and develop the Scottish element of the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP) - a nationwide resource exchange to dramatically improve business resource efficiency.

SISP was the first programme of its kind to be launched on a national scale in Scotland and, as a core component of NISP, was at the forefront of global Industrial Symbiosis thinking and practice. SISP encouraged companies to look outside their own physical and sectoral boundaries for additional resource efficiencies and sustainable market opportunities.

This business led approach delivered the elusive win - win - win of economic, environmental and social benefit.

Further information on how we delivered this programme can be found here: SISP.

In April 2007, the SISP programme became NISP Scotland.
